Opponents have appealed against approval for the 100MW North Kent 1 wind farm in southwest Ontario, Canada, citing concerns about potential impacts on ground water.
The Environmental Review Tribunal has scheduled a hearing over nine days in October.
The project is being developed by a Samsung and Pattern Development joint venture in the municipality of Chatham-Kent.
The venture received approval from the province in June for construction of 36 Siemens SWT-3.2MW-113 turbines with a 99.5m hub height.
It is securing final permits and anticipates starting construction in 2017 and commissioning in 2018.
North Kent 1 is the fifth and final wind farm in Samsung’s 1069MW feed-in tariff wind power portfolio in Ontario.
It holds a 20-year power purchase agreement with the provincial network operator.
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent will have the option to buy a 15% equity interest in the project.
