OX2 has signed power purchase agreements for wind output totalling 60MW in Finland with European energy trader Axpo.
Through its subsidiaries Axpo Nordic and Axpo Finland, the Switzerland-headquartered company will buy the full output generated by the 30MW Kropuln and the 30MW Storbacken wind farms, under construction in the country’s Ostrobothnia region.
Commercial operations of both wind farms are slated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2021.
OX2 is the two projects’ asset manager during construction.
Kropuln and Storbacken will be powered by 14 turbines generating about 206 gigawatt hours of clean energy per year.
Axpo Finland managing director Matti Ahtosalo said: “We are pleased to demonstrate our ability to offer PPAs for non-subsidised Finnish wind projects as Axpo has offered in other Nordic countries.
“We are keen to use our expertise in concluding power purchase agreements such as these in contribution to further promoting the expansion of renewable energies in general and wind power in particular.”
OX2 chief executive Paul Stormoen said: “We are very pleased to have been part in facilitating the PPA transaction with a successful outcome for all involved.
“The transaction shows that onshore wind in Finland is competitive on market terms.”
