Pattern Energy has acquired two projects that make up the 324MW Broadview Wind facilities in New Mexico from Pattern Development for $269m.
The deal, which consisted of a cash consideration of $215m and taking on a $54m project loan, also includes the 35-mile 345kV Western Interconnect transmission line.
The wind farms are located 30 miles north of Clovis and have been operating since late March.
The projects consist of 141 Siemens 2.3MW turbines and are limited to 297MW of injection capacity at Broadview’s transmission interconnection point, Pattern Energy said.
The Broadview projects have two 20-year power purchase agreements with Southern California Edison for all of the electricity generated.
Pattern Energy president and chief executive Mike Garland said: “This extraordinary project brings inexpensive renewable power from eastern New Mexico, one of the highest wind areas in the west, using dedicated transmission capacity from several transmission systems into California.”
