PNE Group has completed the expansion of its Gnutz West wind farm in northern Germany with the commissioning of four new turbines totalling 22MW.
Located in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district of Schleswig-Holstein, the latest additions bring the total installed capacity at the site to 30.8MW.
The new units-two Vestas V162 and two V150 models, each rated at 5.6MW-began feeding electricity into the grid in May.
The additional capacity will generate enough clean power to cover the annual electricity needs of around 16,700 three-person households.
“The Gnutz West wind farm is one of numerous cooperation projects that we are realising in Schleswig-Holstein together with landowners and citizens,” said Roland Stanze, chief operating officer of PNE AG.
“It is an example of how local interests and the strategic orientation of an Independent Power Producer like PNE can be combined in a dialogue that goes far beyond the classic leasing of land,” he said.
