The consented 72.6MW Creag Riabhach wind farm in the Scottish Highlands has survived a legal challenge from private landowner Wildland Ltd.
A judicial review raised by Wildland Ltd, which is owned by Danish billionaire Anders Povlsen, rejected the company’s concerns about the development of the 22-turbine wind farm on wild land on the Altnaharra Estate near Lairg.
Lord Boyd of Duncansby, who heard the review, said Wildland Ltd’s position seemed to be that no wind farm should be built on wild land areas.
“That may be, but that is a political decision and not one for the courts,” he said.
The project is expected to feature 3.3MW hardware with tip heights of 125 metres and provide £9m in community benefits.
