Engineering outfit RSK Group has expanded its specialist access services with the acquisition of wind turbine rope-access company CAS Ltd.
Cumbria-based CAS Access will join fellow RSK subsidiary CAN Renewables, which provides installation, inspection, repair and maintenance services for wind the and renewable energy sectors.
CAS provides a range of specialist access services for wind turbine inspection and repair.
As well as offering comprehensive turbine maintenance services, including cleaning and tower paint, ladder and access system repairs, CAS also repairs busbar energy transfer systems in Senvion turbines, expanding RSK’s engineering services.
CAS has recently worked on exchanging busbars and cleaning and repairing towers at numerous sites throughout the UK for clients including Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and RWE.
CAS director Glenn Sutcliffe will continue to lead the business as it joins RSK’s geosciences and engineering division and he will also join CAN Renewables as a director.
RSK CEO and founder Alan Ryder said: “Our CAN Renewables business has grown rapidly since its formation earlier this year and we see huge opportunities in the maintenance and repair of large wind-turbine blades as the UK moves towards a greener future.
“The acquisition of CAS, a company with a strong reputation in this area, provides an exciting opportunity to expand our existing renewables services.
“Glenn and the team at CAS will be a valued addition as we develop additional in-house services to bolster our solutions-led, end-to-end offerings to our clients in the wind, solar and hydro sectors.”
