RWE has sold the consented 34-turbine Songkjolen-Engerfjellet project in Norway to hydropower player Akershus Energi.
Akershus said it will look to bring forward the project with new partners but gave no timeline for construction of the site in Nord-Odal municipality.
The purchase price was not disclosed.
RWE, led by chief executive Rolf Martin Schmitz (pictured), secured a concession to build the site from energy directorate NVE.
The acquisition is part of the Norwegian company’s plan to invest in more solar and wind in addition to its 100-year track record in hydropower.
“The concession we have now acquired gives us a unique opportunity to build a future-oriented wind turbine, but we have not decided whether the project will be completed,” said chief executive Eskil Lunde Jensen.
“There are a number of issues that need to be clarified before a decision can be made.”
