Renewable energy generation between July and September (2022) increased by 55% compared with the same period in 2021, figures from the Scottish Government reveal.
Renewable electricity generation in the third quarter of 2022 was 55.3% higher than the same quarter in 2021.
Over the first nine months of 2022, generation was up 34.7% compared to the same period in 2021, mainly due to increased wind and rain and increased renewable infrastructure compared to 2021.
Renewable electricity capacity also grew by 1.4GW to 13.6GW between September 2021 and September 2022.
Nick Sharpe, Director of Communications and Strategy at Scottish Renewables, said: “These figures round off what has been an amazing year for our industry.
“Renewable energy projects like wind and solar farms, hydropower and tidal energy are contributing more and more to Scotland’s economy as well cutting energy costs for consumers and helping meet our net-zero target.
“As we develop more projects, on and offshore, those contributions will only increase.”
