Siemens Gamesa has secured a turbine supply contract with MidAmerican Energy Company for the 95MW expansion to the Southern Hills wind farm in Iowa.
Under the terms of the deal, Siemens Gamesa will deliver 21 4.5-145 machines with individual capacity of 4.8MW, as well as provide service and maintenance for three-and-a-half years.
Siemens Gamesa onshore Americas chief executive Jose Antonio Miranda said: “We are once again proud to have been awarded a project by MidAmerican Energy Company, strengthening our long-standing relationship with them.
“We have had great success with the 4.5-145 wind turbine, with over 1.4GW sold in the US Canada and Mexico, and are excited to continue growing that number.”
Siemens Gamesa has installed over 10,000 turbines in the US totalling about 20GW of installed capacity.
In Iowa, the company has installed nearly 1400 units with total capacity of almost 3.5GW.
Of that, 1164 machines totalling nearly 3GW are with MidAmerican Energy.
