Vattenfall is partnering with German renewables company Gaia to develop onshore wind projects in west and central Germany.
The companies will cooperate on projects in the Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate regions of the country.
Vattenfall head of onshore wind project development in Germany Philipp Heucke said: “Vattenfall has the corporate goal of enabling a fossil-free life within a generation.
“In this, the expansion of renewable energies – in particular the field of wind energy – plays a very important role for us.
“Therefore, we are very pleased to be able to accelerate our project development activities in Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate with an experienced and regionally networked partner.”
Gaia managing director Michael Wahl said: “For over 20 years, we have consistently and with great commitment to the transformation of the energy system.
“Our goal is a climate-friendly and socio-economic sustainable energy supply that is in harmony with environmentally friendly mobility and heat supply.
“Through strategic cooperation with Vattenfall, as one of the major energy providers in Europe, both partners can complement their strengths in order to achieve these goals together.”
Vattenfall added that growth in onshore wind in Germany will be achieved through cooperation and regional partnerships.
