Nuon and Eneco have kicked off contracting for the up to 45MW Slufterdam wind farm repowering project in the Netherlands.
The partners are seeking provision of 14 turbines of up to 3.2MW for the development near Rotterdam, which is being upgraded for the second time in its life.
The utilities want a quick turnaround on the around €40m contract with installation due to be completed within a year of award, so potentially by end-2016.
Slufterdam was originally two projects, one built by Eneco in 1992 using a dozen 500kW turbines that were repowering in 2002 to GE machines of 1.5MW each.
Nuon, now owned by Vattenfall, built nine of the same GE turbines in 2003 using a separate grid connection.
Would-be suppliers will have bids evaluated starting end-November.
