Scout Clean Energy is to supply electricity to the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency from the 200MW Three Waters wind farm in Jackson County.
The project will feature up to 71 GE 2.82MW turbines spread across about 18,200 hectares.
Construction is slated to start in 2021, with commercial operations later that year.
Scout chief executive and founder Michael Rucker said: “We are excited to announce our agreement with Minnesota Municipal Power Agency to purchase power from the Three Waters wind farm.
“MMPA has agreed to purchase the entire capacity that will be generated by the Three Waters wind farm. The project distinguishes MMPA as a renewable energy leader in Minnesota.
“The agreement with MMPA for the Three Waters wind farm is an important step for the project.
“We hope that working together we will help bring this economic benefit to Jackson County.”
Scout Clean Energy is owned by private equity fund Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners.
Avant Energy chief operating officer Oncu Er said: “This purchase of renewable energy contributes to MMPA’s renewable portfolio and reduces MMPA’s carbon footprint in a cost-effective manner.”
Avant Energy is an MMPA management partner.
