Nordex has chosen TÜV SÜD to certify its new N149 wind turbine model.
The N149, which will have a 149-metre rotor, will have output between 4MW and 4.5MW and hub heights of 105 metres to 164 metres.
Under the scope of the certification, TÜV SÜD will examine and assess the overall design and all key components of the turbine.
The certification aims to confirm the quality of the design and production, as well as the hardware’s power performance, TÜV SÜD said.
“Type certification is regarded as a prerequisite for tendering in international wind energy projects,” said TÜV SÜD executive Alexander Kupzok.
Nordex will present the upgrade of its Delta platform at the Husum Wind conference next week.
Serial production is planned for 2019 with the initial test turbine to be installed in 2018 for certification.
TÜV SÜD will also carry out type approval of the turbines according to the 2012 DIBt guidelines, which are based on the German building code.
