US contractor Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives (IEA) has secured a contract from Invenergy to build the 300MW Thunderhead wind farm in Nebraska.
Work is already underway on the project, which will consist of 108 GE turbines.
Thunderhead, which is located in Antelope and Wheeler counties, is scheduled to be completed by September 2020.
The scope of IEA’s work covers construction of access roads and foundations, as well as installation of the turbines.
IEA subsidiary IEA Constructors is carrying out the work.
IEA chief executive JP Roehm said: “The Thunderhead wind farm is an important example of the wind projects that continue to fill our pipeline.
“IEA has developed a strong reputation for delivering efficiently and safely on wind projects throughout North America, and new business momentum is solid as a result.”
IEA has installed more than 7200 wind turbines across North America.
