Vestas has confirmed a 214MW order for V110 2MW turbine components for MidAmerican Energy’s 2GW Wind XI project in Iowa.
The Danish turbine manufacturer said potential future orders are expected to occur as partial deliveries under a master agreement.
In June, Vestas entered into a conditional agreement with MidAmerican Energy, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy, to supply up to 1000 of its turbines to the massive project.
MidAmerican Energy recently gained regulatory approval from the Iowa Utilities Board. It’s still finalizing sites for the $3.6bn development, which is expected to be in service between 2017 and 2019.
