Vestas and GE have settled multiple patent infringement cases in the US.
The cases, which commenced in 2017, relate to technologies that enable turbines to manage grid faults, said the Danish company.
GE filed the initial lawsuit against Vestas and Vestas Amercian Wind Technology while Vestas pursued two counterclaims.
The cases have all been discontinued under the settlement, which includes “a cross-license to the patents-in-suit and their family members, as well as a confidential payment from Vestas to GE”.
“The cross-license applies globally to the parties’ and their affiliates’ respective onshore and offshore wind businesses and ensures that they can use the technology covered by such patents,” added Vestas.
Vestas described the outcome as “an amicable settlement”.
A GE spokesman said “the terms of the settlement are fair and reasonable”.
