Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners has officially inaugurated the 41MW Templeborough biomass power plant near Rotherham in South Yorkshire, England.
A consortium of Interserve Construction and Babcock and Wilcox Volun built the plant, which first started generating electricity for the national grid at the end of summer last year.
CIP invested £160m in Templeborough, which generates electricity from waste wood, through its Copenhagen Infrastructure II fund.
The official opening was carried out by His Royal Highness The Duke of York.
Copenhagen Infrastructure Biomass managing director Tim Forrest said: “It has been a pleasure to celebrate the day with the project partners and reflect on the great work that has brought us to this point.
“We are now looking forward to many successful years of working with the local community here in Rotherham and generating clean, green energy for homes across South Yorkshire.”
