Vestas has reached 200GW of installed wind turbines globally.
The milestone was achieved with the installation of a V172-7.2MW unit at Enova’s 65MW Meppen repowering project in Germany.
The company said the achievement underlines its leading position within wind energy solutions and the scale at which renewables are growing in the global energy system.
It added that it also became the first to reach 100GW in 2018, with the subsequent 100GW installed in less than seven years.
“Installing 200 GW of wind energy together with our customers and partners is something we are extremely proud of as it underlines how Vestas is leading the wind industry in scaling to meet the world’s growing need for secure, affordable, and sustainable energy,” said Henrik Andersen, Vestas president and chief executive.
“The trust, collaboration, and ambition of our partners made it possible,” Andersen added.
Vestas stated that 200GW is installed across 88 countries on six continents and is enough energy to fully charge 156 million electric cars for one year or to power 174 million European households.
