Vestas is to cut 70 juts at its Ringkøbing manufacturing facility in Denmark.
The move at the site, where 330 employes are based, is part of a bid to refocus the facility’s operations, the company said.
Ringkøbing produces nacelles, according to the Vestas website.
“It’s always difficult to say goodbye to valued colleagues, but these adjustments are necessary to maintain a competitive and efficient global setup,” a spokesperson added.
“We will explore role opportunities on other Vestas locations to minimise redundancies.”
Vestas has a significant presence in Ringkøbing-Skjern municipality with more than 1900 colleagues across our sites in Ringkøbing, Lem and Videbæk, and more than a total of 7400 workers in Denmark, the spokesperson pointed out.
“It is also worth noting that Vestas has around 3800 hourly employees (mainly production and service workers) in Denmark, which is more than 600 more compared to a year ago,” they added.
“We will now start negotiations with the employee representatives and other relevant stakeholders during which terms for the expected layoffs will be negotiated and agreed upon.”
