WindEurope 2025: RWE

Enercon and RWE have agreed a long-term partnership to jointly implement onshore wind projects in Europe.

The companies signed a letter of intent to this effect at the WindEurope conference in Copenhagen.

The agreement covers several years of cooperation on projects in RWE’s European core markets.

Enercon will be responsible for the supply, installation and maintenance of the wind turbines, while RWE will operate its own turbines.

Katja Wünschel (pictured: right), chief executive of RWE Renewables Europe & Australia, said: “Onshore wind energy enables the cost-efficient expansion of renewable energies.

“In doing so, we only implement projects that meet our high return requirements and use state-of-the-art technology.

“This is where the cooperation with Enercon comes into play.

“The aim is to secure components and services for some of our projects under agreed framework conditions in order to be able to reliably implement our growth programme.

“This also gives our partner planning security. The MoU fits seamlessly into our existing contract landscape and will further strengthen and diversify our European supply chain. I am very much looking forward to the projects we will implement together across Europe.”

Ulrich Schulj Sdhof (pictured: left), chief commercial officer at Enercon, added: “We are pleased to be able to make a long-term contribution to the expansion of onshore wind energy in Europe together with RWE and thus to a climate-neutral, independent and economical energy supply.

“With our expanded product and service portfolio, we are taking advantage of the opportunities of a changing energy market and offering our customers attractive added value for their projects.

“The partnership between RWE and ENERCON secures both our long-term plans and the market-driven further development of our products with the aim of successfully shaping the energy transition in Europe.”
