WPD has reported record results following the November onshore wind tender in Germany, securing awards for 23 projects totalling about 587MW.
The company said this marks its highest ever award volume in a single tender and concludes its most successful tender year with 1135MW awarded overall.
Dr Hartmut Brösamle from the management of wpd said: “For us, the awards are a confirmation of our work and the basis for the project realisation of the next two years.”
“This success would not have been possible without the outstanding commitment of our employees at our 19 German locations,” Brösamle added.
WPD stated that 33 projects with 117 turbines and around 644MW are currently under construction as it continues to expand its own portfolio, which totals 3644MW.
It said further projects are in preparation and that a continued strong focus on the German market supports sustainable job creation alongside its international activities.
The company added that reliable framework conditions are needed for the implementation and financing of renewable energy projects beyond the next few years.
