Renewable energy developer WSB Neue Energien Group has set up a subsidiary in Finland called VSP Uusiutuva Energia to develop wind farms in the Nordic country.
VSP will be based in Helsinki with Christopher Small the local managing director. Small is also WSB’s new markets director, with responsibility for business development in Northern Europe.
WSB said Finland offered “widespread consistently good wind conditions, a stable investment environment and a government which supports the expansion of renewable energies”.
VSP has already started developing two wind farms near Turku in south-west Finland, with a combined capacity of about 40MW.
It plans to enter the projects in the country’s first renewable energy sources tender, which is scheduled for 2018.
Small said: “We are currently assessing further projects in-depth at different development stages and expanding our network of partners.”
