A zero-subsidy bid from a Lithuanian wind farm developer was successful in the country’s first technology-neutral renewable energy tender.
Lithuania’s National Energy Regulatory Council (Vert) said that UAB Windfarm Akmene 1 won support of 300 gigawatt hours in the auction with a bid of €0/MWh.
Vert said it received seven successful bids – an eighth bidder did not qualify – ranging in price from €0/MWh to €3.86/MWh.
Three bidders offered zero-subsidy submissions, it said.
Vert did not give details of the project’s size, but according to the UAB Windfarm website Akmene 1 is scheduled to comprise 15 5MW turbines with a combined capacity of about 75MW.
Construction is expected from mid-2020, with commissioning from mid-2021, the UAB Windfarm website said.
Vert said Lithuania will hold its second auction for 700 gigawatt-hours on 29 May this year.
UAB Windfarm plans a second phase – Akmene 2 – which would comprise 65 turbines totalling about 325MW.
