APX has been chosen to build a tracking system for the state of New York by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.
The US company will design, build, operate and maintain the New York generation attribute tracking system will allow for origination, certification, tracking, transfer, and retirement of certificates and will support New York state policies and programmes, including the environmental disclosure programme, the renewable portfolio standard and the voluntary market for renewable energy and renewable energy certificates.
APX managing director Lars Kvale said: “With the increasing focus on renewable energy and power disclosure programs, market infrastructure solutions that enable transparent tracking of energy attributes are increasingly in demand.
“We are pleased that NYSERDA and all other major North American renewable energy markets have chosen APX to support their renewable energy programs.”
The system will issue certificates for all electricity generated in New York and for imported power from January 2016 and support import and export transactions with other regions.
NYSERDA chief executive John Rhodes said: “The New York generation attribute tracking system is a significant step in implementing Governor Cuomo’s commitment to increasing the use of renewable energy in the state, and it will enhance New York’s renewables voluntary market.”
When the system launches APX will provide training for potential system users.
