ILI Group has sold the 50MW Fordtown battery storage project in Kintore, Aberdeenshire to Eelpower for an undisclosed price.
The transaction increases ILI’s developed and funded battery projects to 200MW, with a further 800MW being prepared for market over 2021-2022.
ILI Group chief executive Mark Wilson said: “We are delighted to conclude this deal with Eelpower and we would like to thank Mark Simon and his team, and our own solicitors at TLT Damien Bechelli and Joanna Hamilton for getting this challenging project over the line.
“This is our second battery storage deal to conclude this month, taking the total of funded projects to 200MW. We have another 150MW that will be ready for tender this year.
“As the country struggles for security of supply, at a reasonable cost to consumers, it’s clear that energy storage projects like this are fundamental in the move to a net-zero electricity system.”
Eelpower chief executive Mark Simon said: “The 50MW Fordtown project represents another milestone in Eelpower’s joint venture partnership with the SUSI Partners’ Energy Storage Fund.
