ILI Group has secured planning permission for its 100MW Learielaw battery energy storage project in Scotland.
The Learielaw project, located near Broxburn, West Lothian, is expected to be connected to the grid in 2028.
The company said the consent marks its first major planning approval of the year and follows a strong finish to 2024, with 350MW of storage projects consented across North Ayrshire, North Lanarkshire, and the Highlands.
ILI Group chief executive Mark Wilson (pictured) said: “Learielaw is another strong addition to our battery storage pipeline and highlights the momentum we’ve built in delivering nationally significant energy infrastructure.
“As the grid evolves to handle more renewable generation, projects like Learielaw will be vital in providing the flexibility and reliability the system needs.
“This is a key step in our mission to make Scotland a leader in clean, secure energy.”
Based in Hamilton, ILI Group has a 4.7GW pipeline comprising 2.5GW of pumped storage hydro and 2.2GW of utility-scale battery storage.
