Trianel and VEW have joined forces to establish a renewable energy company in Germany.

The purpose of the new joint company, named Windpark Rhoder Forst, is to plan, build and operate a 63MW wind farm in Hesse.

The wind farm will comprise 10 Enercon E-175 turbines, each with a capacity of 6.3MW.

The project is being built on a site that has been significantly damaged by storms and bark beetles, near the A44 between the Diemelstadt districts of Rhoden and Wrexen.

After the completion of the wind farm, more than 41,000 households will be supplied with green electricity.

“With their municipal background, Trianel Wind and Solar is the ideal partner for us because we have similar values and interests,” said VEW managing director Frank Benz.

“Regional value creation and sustainable services of general interest are central factors for us.

“Together with Trianel, we are implementing these basic principles to create broad acceptance for this forward-looking project.

“In this way, we are taking a significant step closer to our goal of creating an almost climate-neutral district.”

Trianel Wind and Solar managing director Arvid Hesse said: “We are extremely looking forward to this co-operation with an experienced partner with strong local roots.”

As part of the municipal co-operation, Trianel is responsible for project development, technical planning and the operation of renewable energy projects, while VEW is responsible for securing land, co-ordinating with local service providers and communicating on site.

VEW holds 51% of the shares in the new company, while Trianel Wind and Solar holds 49%.
