Kokam Company is to develop a 36MW energy storage system for Korea Electric Power Corporation (Kepco) for frequency regulation at the Non-Gong substation in South Korea.
The project will feature a combination of two Kokam lithium ion battery technologies – its ultra high power nickel manganese cobalt battery technology and its Nano battery technology.
Work on the project started in June and is scheduled to be complete by December.
When the 36MW project is complete, Kokam will have deployed 92MW of energy storage capacity for Kepco and total capacity worldwide of 132MW.
