The European Commission has announced the allocation of €52m in funding support through the EU Renewable Energy Financing Mechanism (RENEWFM) to nine renewable energy projects in Finland and Estonia.
The awarded projects will add a total capacity of 445.65MW and are expected to be commissioned between 2027 and 2028.
The selected schemes include seven solar projects in Finland, totalling €33.7m in funding.
The projects are being built in Tornio, northern Finland, Southern Ostrobothnia, Northern Savonia and the south eastern interior of Finland.
Around €18m will go towards supporting a hybrid solar-wind project and a standalone wind project in Estonia.
The RENEWFM was established by the commission in 2020 and is aimed at better supporting renewable energy projects and encouraging a greater uptake of renewables across the EU.
