Eurowind Energy has acquired an operational green hydrogen plant in Hobro, Denmark, from Air Liquide.
This purchase is the first step in the companys plan to enter the power-to-x (PtX) industry and will provide valuable insights into the production of hydrogen, using the excess power from solar and wind.
The HyBalance plant, in Hobro, has been operated by Air Liquide as a demonstration unit since 2018 and features a 1.25MW PEM electrolyser that can produce more than 500kg of hydrogen per day.
The asset includes a hydrogen compression unit, storage facilities and filling facilities for both tube trailers and smaller transport cylinders.
The overall strategy is to implement the production of hydrogen in Eurowind Energy’s future hybrid parks across Europe.
“At Eurowind Energy, we are proud to continue the local commitment to the HyBalance project,” said Eurowind Energy chief executive Jens Rasmussen.
“The project, as well as the location, is a perfect point of departure for us to develop our engagement in the PtX industry even further, and realise our mission to become a power major.”
