Jan De Nul profit was down to just over €31m last year, compared with almost €70m in 2017, despite further expansion in the renewables sector in Europe and globally.
The decline was blamed on pressures in the dredging and oil and gas market, the company said.

Jan De Nul said it had secured orders for work on the Northwester 2 offshore wind farm off Belgium, as well as the Changhua and Formosa 1 phase two in Taiwan and projects off the US.
The company’s overall order book was €3.3bn at the end of 2018, up from €2.6bn at the end of the previous year.
Jan De Nul has also invested in a new jack-up vessel that will have lifting capacity of over 3000 tonnes, making it capable of installing next generation wind turbines, the company said.
