Vattenfall has issued a €500m green bond with the proceeds going to a number of projects including renewables.
Other areas to benefit from the money raised are energy efficiency, electrification of transport and heat, and industrial projects.
All four areas are specified in the company’s Green Bond Framework.
Vattenfall said the bond, which is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm, was oversubscribed by more than six times.
The Swedish energy company said the settlement date is 12 March 2020.
Vattenfall now has two green bonds outstanding with a total size of €1bn.
Vattenfall chief financial officer Anna Borg said: “We have once again seen a very strong interest among European investors when issuing our new green bond.
“Vattenfall has considerable investment plans for the coming years, where we will continue to invest according to our vision of enabling a fossil-free life within one generation.”
