RWE is investing up to €15bn gross to expand its team and accelerate the growth of renewables in Germany through to 2030.
The developer is advertising around 200 new jobs for developing wind and solar farms through its ‘Tailwind for Germany’ campaign that aims to advance progress with regional projects and generate an increased local presence in the country.
RWE said it will open seven offices for developing onshore wind and solar PV projects, which are to be located in Berlin, Duesseldorf, Mainz, in the Heilbronn/Stuttgart and Augsburg/Munich metropolitan areas, as well as Leipzig and Rostock.
The company said it is also currently adding five turbines with an installed capacity of 29MW to its existing 16-turbine Bartelsdorf wind farm in the district of Rotenburg in Lower Saxony.
Two of the new turbines will be handed over to a local citizens’ cooperative while RWE will operate three turbines with an installed capacity of 17MW, the company.
Construction at the Bartelsdorf site is to start in summer 2022.
RWE said added that in the new year, works will also start on its 12MW Evendorf wind farm district of Harburg in Lower Saxony.
Once completed, the two wind parks will be able to provide over 19,000 households with energy.
RWE chief operating officer for onshore wind and solar PV in Europe Katja Wünschel said: “RWE sees particularly strong potential for growth in Germany.
“We thus want to step up the pace here and invest up to €15bn gross in our green core business by 2030.
“Our billions of euros of investments will create plenty of opportunities for qualified employees.”
