RWE has been awarded two wind projects in Germany, totalling more than 45MW.
The German Federal Network Agency has awarded RWE the Grevenbroich wind farm in North Rhine-Westphalia and the Bartelsdorf 2 project in Lower Saxony.
The Grevenbroich wind farm, with a total installed capacity of 17.1MW, is expected to go into operation at the end of this year.
It will used three 5.7MW Nordex turbines.
In the rural district of Rotenburg (Wümme), between Hamburg and Bremen, RWE will add five Nordex turbines to its existing wind farm Bartelsdorf, giving the wind farm an additional 28.5MW of capacity.
Construction will begin in the summer of 2022, with commissioning in 2023.
Two of the five new turbines will be owned by Bürgergesellschaft Heidland Wind, a local citizens’ cooperative, while the others will be operated by RWE.
This year alone, RWE is investing €60m into three new onshore renewables construction projects, including Sandbostel-Bevern, in addition to Grevenbroich and Bartelsdorf 2.
