Galetech Group has entered a development partnership with Scottish renewable energy company Ionica Energy to deliver projects in Scotland.

The partnership will seek to develop utility-scale renewable energy projects over the next 10 years with a minimum generation capacity of 50MW, Galetech Group said.

The collaboration will combine Galetech’s expertise in development, project delivery and infrastructure investment with Ionica Energy’s local market knowledge and capabilities, the company added.

The partners will focus on projects including onshore wind, ground mounted solar, battery energy storage systems and associated grid infrastructure connecting to the existing substation network in Scotland.

Darren Sherry, chief executive of Galetech Group (pictured), said: “Galetech Group is delighted to be partnering with Ionica Energy as we expand our renewable energy activities in Scotland. Ron and the team at Ionica bring a wealth of experience and knowledge of the Scottish renewable energy industry.”

“Following on from the recent announcement that Galetech Group will invest €3.5 million into the UK renewable energy sector over the coming years, this partnership underscores our commitment to develop wind, solar and battery storage infrastructure in Britain.”

Ron Peddie, managing director of Ionica Energy, said: “Scotland has always been a world-leader in renewable energy development, and we are excited to work alongside Galetech Group to develop projects that will contribute meaningfully to the transition toward a low-carbon future.”

“This partnership provides more than just financial support. Galetech Group is bringing 25 years of development and technical expertise that will add-value to our project development pipeline in Scotland.”
