The German Federal Network Agency BNetzA has defined the route corridor for two sections of the SuedLink, which will transport offshore wind power from the North Sea to consumers in southern Germany.
The approved sections run between Scheessel and Bad Gandersheim/Seesen in Lower Saxony.
Projects Three and Four of the SuedLink will be implemented in these sections together with a so-called trunk line, BNetzA said.
The fixed 190km long route corridor starts in Scheessel and passes Hanover to the west.
In the district of Hildesheim it runs from Freden through the Leine Valley, while at Einbeck, it connects to the already defined corridor of section C, the agency said.
BNetzA president Jochen Homann (pictured) said: “The rough course of the SuedLink is now fixed. This is one of the key projects of the energy transition.
“We welcome the intense public participation and are pleased to be able to take into account two proposals from the hearing.”
BNetzA will now determine the exact route within the defined corridor.
