The commissioning of the 700MW Cobra interconnector between the Netherlands and Denmark will be delayed by six months to the third quarter of 2019, according Danish transmission system operator Energinet.
“The delay is due to challenges encountered during the laying/installation of the offshore cable by the contractor,” the TSO said.
Cobra’s launch should have taken place on 6 February next year.
In 2016, Prysmian and Siemens were awarded a contract by Energinet and its Dutch counterpart TenneT to build the subsea link.
The 325km interconnector will run from Eemshaven in the Netherlands through German waters to Endrup in Denmark.
