Australian company Guardian Geomatics has been hired by Sun Cable to carry out initial surveys of a proposed cable route that would transport renewable energy from Australia to Singapore and Indonesia.
Preparatory work will kick off this month, with Guardian Geomatics planning to use sister company Guardian Offshore’s vessel Offshore Solution (pictured) to deliver the work, starting later in 2020.
The Sun Cable project – known as the Australia-ASEAN Power Link – aims to supply clean power from solar energy and battery storage in Northern Territory to Darwin on the north coast of Australia and to Singapore and Indonesia via a 3800km HVDC subsea link.
Guardian Geomatics will be undertaking a survey between Darwin and Singapore.
