Siemens Gamesa’s La Plana hybrid pilot plant near Zaragoza in Spain has now added a Weak Grids Mode to its operations.
The change means the plant can switch to use its renewable resources in the event of power outages.

The plant can operate in Off-Grid Mode, meaning that its solar, wind and diesel, and storage assets could work with no access to the electricity grid.
It can also work in On-Grid Mode linking those energy resources to the grid.
The turbine manufacturer said this was another step towards offering customers hybrid solutions for any condition or location.
