TenneT has received planning approval for the last section of the Wahle-Mecklar transmission line that will help transport renewable energy from northern Germany to the south of the country.
The Lower Saxony State Authority for Road Construction and Traffic issued the decision for the approximately 48km connection between the Hardegsen substation and the Lower Saxony-Hesse state border.
TenneT said the decision means it has received the permits for all sections of the 230km three-phase project.
TenneT Managing Director Tim Meyerjurgens said: “We are very happy to have received the planning approval decision for the last section of the Wahle-Mecklar line.
“This clears the way for the construction of the largest three-phase line construction project in Germany.
“After completion, the connection will relieve the existing power grid in the north-south axis sustainably and guarantee the regional power supply in southern Lower Saxony and northern Hesse future-proof at a very high level.”
