National Grid and Energinet.dk have launched a tender worth about €1.3bn for the 1.4GW Viking high voltage direct current link between the UK and Denmark.
The partners are looking for one or more providers for the design, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, installation and maintenance of the interconnector, the notice shows.
The project involves the construction of a converter station in each country and the installation of subsea and underground cables between them, as well as underground cables to connect the converter stations with substations.
Procurement is divided into seven lots comprising six cable sections and both converter stations.
The 635km power interconnector is scheduled to be operational in 2022.
Companies can express interest in the contracts until 17 February.
