Andritz has secured a contract from Compagnia Valdostana delle Acque (CVA) to rehabilitate the 130MW Valpelline hydropower plant in Italy’s Aosta Valley.
The deal, valued in the mid double-digit million-euro range, is included in the Austrian group’s third quarter 2025 order intake.
Commissioned in 1958 and powered by the Place Moulin reservoir, one of Europe’s largest, the facility has a net head of more than 900 metres, among the highest in Europe.
The project scope includes the supply of two new 87MVA synchronous generators, four Pelton runners, spherical valves, penstock components, and a complete cooling and electrical system upgrade.
Andritz will also deliver civil works, dismantling, reassembly, commissioning and site management, with each generator meeting the latest European grid code standards.
Once complete, the rehabilitation will increase Valpelline’s installed capacity by 15% and extend its contribution to Italy’s renewable power supply and cross-border electricity interconnection.
