Almost 1300MW of renewables capacity has been successful in Ireland’s first green energy auction, according to provisional results.
Almost 800MW of solar secured support in the RESS-1 round while 480MW of onshore wind was successful.
TSO Eirgrid, which ran the process, said the average strike price for the technology-neutral pot was €74.08 per megawatt-hour.
A ring-fenced pot for solar came in at €72.93/MWh on average while a small one for community schemes was €104.15/MWh.
Projects are spread across the country and of the 114 that applied to take part, 109 were deemed eligible, according to Eirgrid.
“Eirgrid ran the auction on the afternoon of 28/07/20. Of the 108 projects who submitted an Offer Price in respect of the RESS 1 Auction, 82 projects have been provisionally successful in the auction and 26 projects have been provisionally unsuccessful in the auction.”
The final results are due on 10 September while a notice of award date is 25 September.
