Jacobs has been selected by EirGrid for a five-year Engineering Design, Planning and Project Management Framework to support Ireland’s renewable energy ambitions.
The agreement, with an option for a three-year extension, will provide technical services for the delivery of Shaping Our Electricity Future, EirGrid’s strategy to transform the national transmission network and achieve at least 80% renewable electricity by 2030.
Under the framework, Jacobs will form an integrated design team to deliver end-to-end services in planning, design and project management for high-voltage transmission infrastructure, including both overground and underground assets using AC and DC technologies.
Jacobs executive vice president for Europe Richard Sanderson said: “Reliable, efficient and sustainable electricity transmission systems are central to enabling Ireland’s energy transition. Our integrated design team approach will ensure projects are developed holistically – from early-stage planning and design to delivery – with a focus on system reliability, regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship.”
The framework covers engineering design, planning, project management, environmental and health and safety services to support the long-term resilience of Ireland’s grid.
Jacobs already supports major infrastructure initiatives across Ireland, including BusConnects Dublin and Cork, Irish Rail’s Galway to Portarlington upgrade and Uisce Éireann’s strategic water planning programmes.
