New York has announced $150m in funding to support large-scale renewable energy projects in the state.
Governor Andrew Cuomo (pictured) said the cash would advance the Reforming the Energy Vision strategy and ensure the state meets its goal of 50% renewable electricity by 2030.
“With this investment we are taking our unprecedented efforts one more step toward a cleaner and greener New York,” said Cuomo.
Support will come through the NY State Energy Research and Development Authority in a final solicitation under the NY renewable portfolio standard.
Technologies being supported solar and wind, fuel cells, biomass, renewable biogas and upgrades to hydropower projects. Contracts will be awarded for a term of up to 20 years.
