Enercon’s chief executive Momme Janssen is to leave the German wind turbine manufacturer effective from 31 December 2021.
Janssen (pictured) cited personal reasons for his decision.
“We thank Mr Janssen for his commitment and the hard work he has put into supporting the company during this difficult phase of restructuring.
“Above all, we would like to recognise his achievements in stabilising the position of the company”, said Heiko Janssen, chairman of the board of Aloys Wobben Stiftung, Enercon’s sole shareholder.
Heiko Janssen said Momme Janssen was “one of the architects” of the Enercon’s turnaround, initiating and structuring the reorientation programme.
“It was Janssen’s focus on regionalisation in particular that has enabled Enercon to develop into an international industrial company under his leadership.
“We deeply regret his departure, but we respect his wish to leave the company for personal reasons,” he said.
Momme Janssen said: “I have enjoyed supporting ENERCON in its development.
“Although my personal decision has already been made, taking the step to leave the company is anything but easy.”
He thanked Aloys Wobben Stiftung, colleagues in the management team and the entire workforce for their “trust-based cooperation at all times”.
Enercon stated that next year it will be ready to take “decisive steps for the effectiveness of the measures in business operations”.
Janssen joined Enercon at the beginning of 2016, and started off coordinating the preparations for the integration of production – a measure implemented later as part of the turnaround programme.
The search for a successor is already in the advanced stages.
“We are conducting constructive talks’, said Heiko Janssen, chairman of the trust’s board.
“All activities will continue to be pursued until the handover to the new CEO takes place … Momme Janssen will be available for Enercon beyond the end of the year in order to ensure provisional leadership for the company and to guarantee an orderly handover.”
