Global Wind Service’s (GWS) board of directors has appointed Michael Hoj Olsen as chief executive, taking over from company co-founder Lars Petersen.
Petersen will continue with GWS in the role of chief commercial officer with responsibility for sales and business development. Both appointments are effective from 19 February.
Olsen joined GWS in 2014 as chief commercial officer. Petersen credited him with helping accelerate the company’s growth.
Before joining GWS, Olsen spent over four years at Vestas.
Petersen said: “GWS is in excellent shape and I am delighted to pass the chief executive officer role to Michael to take us forward to the next level.”
Since it was founded in 2008, GWS has expanded, with offices in 10 countries, over a thousand staff and revenues of more than €100m.
“Over the last two years we have strengthened our leadership and management teams and invested heavily in our employees to meet future market requirements and higher standards for safety, quality and technical expertise,” said Petersen.
Olsen said: “Our ambition to be the preferred global partner for complete wind turbine services remains the same, and we will continue to build on our strengths.”
