Mads Nipper has started in his new role as chief executive of Orsted, replacing Henrik Poulsen who has stepped down.
Fifty-four-year-old Dane Nipper was previously boss of Danish pump manufacturer Grundfos.
Poulsen will stay on as special advisor until 31 January to support the transition, before joining AP Moller Holding as a senior advisor and member of its investment committee.
Nipper has also worked with Lego and, according to Orsted board chairman Thomas Thune Andersen speaking at the time of the new CEO’s appointment in September, has demonstrated a “clear sustainability vision” by leading the “transformation of Grundfos over the past six years that has reinforced the company’s position in an increasingly competitive market, while also strengthening financial performance”.
