Orsted and Polish energy company ZE PAK SA have signed a letter of intent on the creation of new jobs.
The letter, which was also signed with the authorities of the Kazimierz Biskupi Commune, is part of a programme to support employment of people from the ZEPAK Capital Group in the region’s municipal companies.
In addition, the agreement envisions financing and installing renewable energy sources on the building of the School and Kindergarten Complex in Sokolki.
ZE PAK and Orsted plan to jointly implement new offshore wind farms in Poland. In the ongoing tender competition, the companies submitted applications for five locations in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea, committing themselves to the quick and cost-effective construction of new energy sources and to support the Polish economy.
As part of the ongoing process, the ZE PAK – Orsted partnership presented a comprehensive offer for Poland worth up to 5.5bn zloty. It assumes, among others, the development of the Central Baltic Hub, the establishment of the fund for the development of the Polish supply chain and the Fund for Just Transition dedicated to the inhabitants of the eastern part of Wielkopolska.
The project in Kazimierz Biskupi is the first joint initiative of ZE PAK – Orsted in the region of Eastern Wielkopolska. If, as part of the ongoing process, the partnership is successful, the companies will contribute €10m to the just transition of the region over 10 years.
Joanna Wis-Bielewicz, Orsted Offshore Market Development Director, said: “We know from experience how huge a challenge the energy transformation is and what pressure the communities living in the regions undergoing transformation are under.
“That is why today, together with our partner ZE PAK, we decided to engage in cooperation with the Kazimierz Biskupi Municipality. Our partnership with the leading private energy producer in Poland, ZE PAK, is an opportunity to strengthen Polish energy security, but also a guarantee that the development of new energy sources will be implemented in accordance with the values of a just transition.”
Vice-president of ZE PAK Andrzej Janiszowski: “We want to support the development of the Kazimierz Biskupi commune, and at the same time take care of its inhabitants, especially since about 10% of the staff of the ZE PAK Capital Group are residents of this commune.
“Therefore, we are glad that new jobs will be created in municipal companies of the commune. It became possible thanks to the cooperation with our partners – the Orsted company and the Mayor of the Kazimierz Biskupi commune.
“The construction of a photovoltaic installation is also an element of the energy transformation to which our region is subject, and the use of renewable energy sources is the direction in which the Capital Group is heading.”
