Energy giant Shell has hired former Orsted US offshore wind chief executive Thomas Brostrom as a senior vice president of global renewable solutions, a Shell spokesperson has confirmed.
Elisabeth Brinton executive vice president of Shell New Energies said: “I am delighted that Thomas is joining the Shell team.
“He brings a wealth of experience in this field which will be key as we look to grow our capacity for low carbon renewable power generation and meet the evolving needs of our energy customers.”
News agency Reuters, quoting Danish news agency Ritzau, said Brostrom would take up the role in August next year.
However, Shell would only say he will start next year.
Orsted said on 22 October that North America President David Hardy was stepping into the role of chief executive of the company’s North American offshore division, replacing Thomas Brostrom with immediate effect.
It said Brostrom was relocating to Europe for a renewable energy leadership role with a global energy company.
